Where am I at, right now?

The title leads to a discussion about my place, or where I am situated. And in some ways, it leads me to what I would like to say. I am currently living in Perth, Western Australia. But where I am ready to be, and waiting patiently for, is my life in Bible College in South Carolina, USA.

It sounds like a massive change, but for anyone out there who knows me, you also know that this plan has been in the running for a very, very long time. Ever since visiting the campus in 2009 - when I was seven - I knew that this was the place for me. Sure, a seven-year-old can't make those decisions so early on, but little did I know that this would be happening to me in 2020. Hard to believe it has been ten years since I found my calling.

And sure, when I was seven, I was dreaming of being a scientist, because I liked to inspect the smallest of things - such as my own hair that I trimmed off. But plans change, and you realise you want to go into teaching and study the Bible and learn more about who you are as a person. More important, to learn who you are in Christ.

But ever since stepping off the plane from the Philippines Mission Trip at the end of 2019, I have sensed another calling. One I have always been keen for, but never really considered. And that, is ministry. I am planning on pursuing teaching and Bible still. But they could lead to something much more different to the plans of "childhood Aynsley". And though it is a scary journey, I know that whatever God plans - ministry or teaching or not - is much more perfect than I could ever hope for.

So where am I at right now? Well, though impatiently waiting for the time to come, though bittersweetly saying goodbye to many people and things in Australia, though preparing for the next few months to come, I am comfortably sitting in the hands of the God who loves me, and who has prepared a place for me in his kingdom. Whether my plans fail, his plan is sure - and that means I am at a pretty good place in my life right now. Praise God!
