There's been something on my mind...

In fact, it is constantly in my mind all the time. Do you know what it is?
THEATRE!!!
Yep, for all my readers out there, there is a piece of knowledge about me you should know. I am only a little obsessed drama and performance. And my friends will be rolling theirs eyes at this point because I am either under exaggerating my love and passion, or because they secretly wish I would stop talking about it.
So why am I writing about it? Well, I don't know. I guess to explain to you first why I love it and what in particular I love.
Why I love theatre so much:
It gives people to express the intricacies of life for all to see. It can represent life, or the true tales of the past using us (the actors and actresses) as the bodies that mould and shape the play, simply through our own characterisation.
It challenges all of us to face our fears, to express ourselves and to unmask the raw emotion of what it is to be human, and to be ourselves. Actors and Actresses put life and soul into the characters, and a piece of their own selves in placed in these characters, figuratively speaking (a bit like the Horcrux and Voldemort)
Music Theatre lets me sing and dance (not that I do either well at all, but's its fun to try)
Plays allow me to appreciate the acting skills of all those on stage, as well as the set pieces and costumes which have been thought out for the purposes of putting a piece of life together.
It's a part of my childhood - something my parents did to 'culture' us. It's a really exciting part of my life, even if it is just watching people on stage. But like I've expressed above, it is so much more than that.
I guess because I am quite good at public speaking and performance...That kinda helps...
What I love (in particular, the shows I love):
Note: It is hard to list every single show I love, so I will try and do some of my top favourites (not necessarily in order). It will likely be mostly music theatre.
Dear Evan Hansen - it is such a raw piece of theatre, with beautiful music by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dogfight, Edges, The Greatest Showman, La la land). It captures the experiences of many teenagers around the world and helps to express the after effects of suicide on the community around the victim. And has a great use of multimedia devices. Definitely can say this is my favorite - I definitely want to see this on Broadway!
Hamilton - You cannot love music theatre and not like Hamilton. I mean, I decided I didn't like Hamilton because it was mostly rap. But as I listened to it, Lin Manuel Miranda is a genius. Anyone who can formulate those words and lyrics so effectively deserves some adoration.
You're a Good Man Charlie Brown - definitely one of my favourites. I know all the songs and this was the musical that kinda started me listening to musicals. It is funny, and true to the comics, which I grew up with right from birth. The Original Broadway Soundtrack is amazing.
Wicked - Not even gonna explain this one, just...wow....
Anastasia - Honestly, love the music so much and since I learnt the history of the Romanov family in school, I can't help but love the fact I can apply that knowledge to a musical!
How to succeed in Business without really trying - It's such a timeless, classic piece that is honestly so funny, and so fun to sing along to. From what I have seen, the set design is amazing!
State Fair - Believe it or not, one of my favourite Rogers and Hammerstein pieces (probably first only to King and I). Yes, Sound of Music is amazing and deserves to be on the list. But State Fair has such amazing music and is such a homely piece. I would sit down and watch this on any day.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed learning about my passion. Kinda boring maybe, but it's nice to share with you guys. Have a musical day!
