I found something annoying today...

Updated: Mar 29, 2020

Yes, it's true, there are many annoyances in life. Pet peeves, you might call them. But there are sometimes moments when you are annoyed with people, because they don't seem to see. In fact, you get annoyed because they are blind, and often to the truth.

And I know truth is "relative" now (which is also an annoying phrase, but anyway), but it's hard as a Christian when you are certain that you're are right, and anyone who disagrees with your faith and the Word of God is wrong.

Anyway, I was annoyed today, because the irony of everything in the pro-choice argument hit me. In fact, it was simply an ad on Youtube, where they were advertising the Morning-after pill, a "contraceptive" for women who have had sex the night before and might be pregnant that morning.

I could be like every conservative ever (including myself) and show you a million reasons why abortion is wrong. And I really want to. But we all know it, it's simply believing it. And yet, today it struck me just how foolish it really is - even how blind a conservative like me is to it.

The morning-after pill is meant to "prevent pregnancy" - even though we all know the woman is pregnant already and simply wants to get rid of the fertilised egg inside her. I believe life begins from fertilisation. And whilst not every child lives in the womb (due to sin) this is the Lord's decision, not ours.

And I know, I cannot expect people who do not hold the same "truth" to follow through. I just didn't think that we could assign the phrase "prevent pregnancy" to a situation like this. "Prevent" literally means to "keep something from happening". Pregnant is the state you are in, whether it be a single day or seven months. Your body has been blessed (no matter what circumstances) with the life of a child. And nothing can, from then on, prevent that from happening when you already have the newborn in your belly. But you do have a choice - will I allow it to continue? I pray that you look to God in everything.

For the mothers out there who have endured terrible circumstances that have resulted in a pregnancy, my heart goes out to you. That's all I will say, because that is all I can say. I pray for you now, as you read this. Look to the God I serve for guidance in his word. Love like Christ loved you.

For the mothers out there who have endured abortion or the guilt of sacrificing a life, this post is not to guilt trip. God has forgiven you, if only you come to him. Love awaits at the hands of Christ who gave his life's blood that you might no longer face guilt and shame.

Yes I am annoyed, but its not really at people so much as blindness - the blindness only our sin can bring. But I am offered a greater hope - that in spite of all the sin that exists in our world, it will be restored once again at the return of Jesus Christ at what I hope will be the near future.
