In Your Youth (Poem)

You thought of dystopia - a dark world - as the clouds
Rolled in, whether a cloud could be seen
In that puddle on the ground, in the absence of
Any light from above.
In your youth, wayward, with little care.
Startled, but with little remorse would follow your
Own path. Yet simply to see those steps you took
You might see they were mistaken.
When you look back, do you see that
The chase had no worth? Or under
Those cloudy eyes, can you uncover?
Simply fill your life with something other
And chase what you no
Longer can, and see no
Bigger plan, and lose
Your sight and security
And now just frighten
Easily
Change your course and make your way -
The clouds still cover the light of day.
